Why Safety Matters
The Crisis Behind Crime, Addiction, and Family Separation
At The Hive, our participants have an average ACE score of 7 - more than three times higher than the general population. That's not a measure of character. It's a measure of childhood trauma.
ACE scores predict incarceration, substance use, mental health struggles, and chronic illness - not because people fail to make good choices, but because a nervous system wired for survival has never learned what safety feels like. You can't behavior-modify a nervous system that's been wired for threat. You have to create the safety that was stolen first. That's what we do.

The Hive Wasn't
Built From Theory
The Hive wasn't built from theory. It was built by people who've walked alongside families in their hardest chapters and believed connection - not compliance - was the missing piece. Too many systems run on policy and protocol that end up deepening disconnection instead of healing it. We built something simpler. People need people. That belief has always driven everything we do.
